CCLSJ was founded as an act of collaboration between the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus, the Diocese of Camden and lay ministers. We seek to promote justice for the poor and marginalized in the City of Camden and throughout Southern New Jersey. Together with our partners at HNCM, and in cooperation with the Bishop of Camden, we strive to provide essential services through our legal ministry to the immigrant community and the working poor.

The WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Program is available to pregnant and breastfeeding women, as well as to children up to the age of 5, without regard to immigration status. WIC provides nutritional information, food and other social services to pregnant women, mothers and children under five who are to be considered at nutritional risk. English Classes
Learning English is a key step in adapting to American life and becoming an active part of society. Better English will help you at work, in school, and in social situations. The Welcoming Center offers the following English classes free of charge:
English classes for all level learners from beginners to advanced.
Civics and Citizenship classes for English learners who are interested in learning more about American society or who are interested in becoming citizens.
Adult Basic Education and GED classes for those without a high school diploma or who want to improve their basic skills.

For nearly 95 years, NSC has remained the premier center for English language classes in the Greater Philadelphia Area. Nationalities Service Center is also Act 48 accredited by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Our most popular classes are our student-centered English as a Second Language (ESL) classes — we host beginning, intermediate, and advanced courses. Students’ language skills are assessed at registration and they are placed in one of seven levels of ESL classes. All of our classes are open to the public and taught on-site at NSC by highly motivated, experienced volunteer teachers who help students gain a richer understanding of US culture and society..
